A message from P before we departed the airbnb “Just looking at today’s forecast in Kirkwall - it looks stunning.” I opened our blinds. Thick haar. And our scenic tour across the island to Stromness may have been just that but there was no way to know. Arriving at our destination we were lucky to make out LadyFindhorn through the murk, holding aloft her seal oil lamp.
And what blethers we had. Not once, but four times as our paths crossed and re-crossed. And that haar was burnt off before long and yes, once again I had to divest myself of socks. Meanwhile LadyF had taken to the water, presumably to escape the heat, where she performed handstands for us. It’s make your own entertainment here!
Back via the Pickaquoy centre where we watched Kensuke’s Kingdom to kill time before Helgi’s for the final haddock &chips. And so, to pod. Wish us luck.
