We had a guided tour of Hamburg’s Old Town (9th century), New Town (12th century) and Harbour City areas this morning. Of course the Old Town mostly burnt down and the New Town was bombed and burnt into oblivion but the Harbour City is spanking new so hasn’t had to be rebuilt yet. Anyway, some interesting stuff from the guide and a completely different viewing perspective so all in all, pretty good.
The Green Bunker is the city’s newest tourist attraction but, other than some great views and its historical interest as a WW2 anti-aircraft battery, it was a bit of a dud as an attraction.
Much later the hotel’s pop-up beergarden made its second appearance, not open as late as the previous evening/morning but with a full attendance and a crate of Karg weissbier as the aperitifs, courtesy of Mike. What a guy!
