On the way to the Slip
This might be the last day of sitting in the garden topping up my vitamin D. It’s hot in the sun and the breeze is light. In other words it feels like summer but for how much longer when the predictions of a cold arctic front about to invade are being voiced.
While I was sitting admiring the view a Pakistani friend phoned from Karachi and we had a conversation over all those thousands of miles and two entirely different locations- bizarre!
I was introduced to the Stromness swimming pool this morning. It was longer and felt a bit larger than my home pool of Warrender in Edinburgh. Despite faffing about in the sea for the last 5 weeks, swimming lengths in a pool shows how out of training I really am. I have, as HL would have said, let myself go!
I was also introduced to the British Legion premises as a guest for coffee. It was definitely a Monday of introductions. Every day I feel more and more part of the community even if I don’t have seven generations of relatives buried in the graveyard.
Four Selkies and I had a lovely dip in the sun at high tide this afternoon. I seem to have spent a lot of today taking off and putting on clothes. Another Selkie is popping in after tea- it’s been a busy day.
