Our fish van
Today I bought some fish from Alec Cargill, whose fish van comes once a week to Bridge of Allan from Arbroath. Its chimes are so familiar and punctual you could set your watch by it.
(He never quite makes it to the top of our road but it so it happened by chance that I met him today while visiting a friend’s house.)
Alec tells me he comes from three generation of fishermen and his family were among the early pioneers of the famous Arbroath smokies.
I had to confess to him that I had never tasted one and my limited amount of cash, ( he does cash only) did not allow me to buy one. Next time though…
