Porcelain Fungus
Today we started our day at a very damp Hodge Close, an old slate quarry (extra SOOC). The colours of the turning trees against the dark grey slate were amazing, but it with persistent rain it was a bit tricky.
It was then onto Coniston for lunch by the the lake before moving on to Yew Tree Tarn where the fungi and reflections were good but the highlight of the day was our final stop at Tarn Hows. Before even leaving the car park we noticed this tree trunk inhabited by a colony of porcelain fungus. We virtually had to empty the boot of W's car to find my long lens, but I think it was worth it. As for the tarn, the water was like a mirror giving the most amazing reflections until the sun dipped behind the fells (extra 2, SOOC).
