Ancient and modern
While stuck in a traffic jam this afternoon coming over Stirling Bridge, I took my hands off the steering wheel grabbed my phone and took this photo of the Wallace monument.
Just as well I own a 12-year-old Fiesta and not of those new high tech cars.
A friend in the Peak sports centre this afternoon told me her mother had just acquired one such car and she feels she has a driving instructor with her all the time.
Yesterday she yawned. The car promptly told her to stop and take a rest because she was tired. On another occasion it told her to keep both hands on the steering wheel. It has also reprimanded her for looking to the right and left and ordered her to keep her eyes looking straight ahead.
And it’s forever squeaking that she is not keeping to the speed limit in restricted zones.
Fed up with all this high-tech gadgetry she wants to turn it off. But she can’t find the “off “button.
I wonder what Scotland’s famous freedom fighter, Wallace, would have made of all this.
