The October Optomist: Loved by the Sun
It was a sunny morning after a cold night, and my husband and I were sitting on lawn chairs in the brightest, warmest spot in the yard, reading our books. A huge bumblebee arrived, and it landed on one of the Mexican sunflowers (Tithonia), its size so huge that its weight bent the plant.
"The October optomist," my husband observed, nodding toward the bee. And the bee, for its part, took its grand old time, visiting every flower, stomping around, tasting every part of every single bloom.
I took a number of photos of the bee, which seemed to be enjoying the sun's rays as much or more than we were. Its fuzzy little body was covered in pollen. I liked the thought of it - it made me smile - so here is a picture of our October optomist, loved by the sun.
The soundtrack song can only be this one: Tangerine Dream's Loved by the Sun, from the film Legend.
