Spittal

We had an early start to be at Spittal for football kick off at 10. The rain was chucking it down but faired just as we arrived.

The Whitley Bay goalie didn’t appear so James stepped up. I hope he’s happy with his performance because he was under pressure from the off. The opposite was the better team and their goalie didn’t have much to do. Although James let in 4 goals he saved many more and coaches from both teams thought he was player of the match. He got the award which must have cheered him up. Character building to lose and he coped well and kept cool.

Mr C and I had a walk along the prom and up to the cliffs. Some glassy houses selling for over £1 million are being built at the south end. My grandad’s retirement home where I stayed for holidays till about aged 10 is hard to find as so many have been built on the hill and the old cottages extended.

I had another ocular disturbance (zigzag sparkly light) which lasted 20 minutes. There doesn’t seem to be a pattern as to what might start it off.

I’m making fridge slurry chilli - 3 week old carrots, wrinkly aubergine, tired mushrooms, left over potatoes plus tin of tomatoes, onion, garlic, chilli, and tin of kidney beans.

I’ll spare you a blip of all of James’s amazing saves. I’m assuming this is a 1930s building. I like the colour. It was there when I stayed with my papa in the 50s when it was a huge Fortes ice cream parlour. By the 60s it was tacky and morphed into Johnnie’s amusement arcade. Today a small ice cream area operates. The rest was closed.
