On the river
Another cold clear windy morning, wind from the West. Walked to St Paul's and the Millenium Bridge then upriver on the South bank path to Lambeth to go to the Garden Museum. Had a protracted mocha in the cafe, since it had delayed opening for an hour .. there was setup going on for their Winter Flowers event. Admired the old tools and clothes, and histories of gardens and gardeners, then climbed the tower, all 131 narrow spiral stone steps. First extra is from the top .. chimneys ..
Across Lambeth Bridge and along Millbank to the Tate Britain. Wandered around that gallery, a much more classical modern art gallery than the former power station which took its name (yesterday's venue). Looked at the Turner prize work - in extra there's the crocheted (?) fabric draped over the Ford Escort by the winner Jasleen Kaur . There's another extra of the front hall floor.
Enjoyed the Henry Moore statuary; found Anthony Gormley figures, and lots of Turners. Took the Uber boat back to Bankside - main blip was taken emerging from Lambeth bridge.
Walked back to the Barbican; did some work once back at the flat. Out in the evening to the Midsummer's Night Dream production which just transferred; modern clothes, staging and music with the old words. Excellent music, staging and acting; not quite a full house, and the person sitting next to me had got a ticket 2 hours prior. Recommended.
