Triste

The weather has been ... variable today. The forecast said cold and windy, but when I went out this morning, it was sunny, 11C, and no wind. To my surprise, Photobox had actually managed to deliver three of the calendars I ordered ten days ago, so at least a few of the recipients will get them for Christmas. And to my relief after reading the Trustpilot reviews, the quality is as good as it's always been. I'm happy with them -- I wasn't entirely satisfied with my choice of theme, but it worked better than I thought it would, with a good variety of photos. I may blip one later!

Anyway, it was the Fabrezan Fête de Noel today. It goes on all day, but we decided to go in the early evening, thinking of roast chestnuts and a glass of mulled wine, plus a stroll round the stalls selling crafts and food. Between us setting out from the house at 6:30 and arriving in Fabrezan seven minutes later, it started to rain persistently -- we even got the umbrella out. We arrived in the square to find this rather depressing sight -- most of the stallholders had either not turned up or gone home early. Santa Claus was nowhere to be seen. No mulled wine to be had, so after a chat with our regular pizzaiolos (struggling with serving takeaway pizzas while trying to soothe a hungry 3-month old baby and a bored toddler) we slunk off to the Grand Café for a glass of wine. By the time we walked back, the market had shut down altogether and the municipal workers were taking down the decorations. If we'd arrived ten minutes later we'd have missed it. A shame, it's normally really popular.

Extra is a rather grand house in Fabrezan where they have made a bit of an effort with the decorations!
