Back On The Court
We got up in time for breakfast and then left for Brooklyn’s early basketball game. I was worried because her team lost last week. The team has many new players without a lot of experience. Brooklyn (#15) is the tallest player as usual. She scored first, last and some in between. We won 29-17 and Brooklyn had a great game offensively and defensively. The team played well together. I called our mother to see if she would join us for Christmas Eve. She wasn’t feeling great so I will ask her again another day. She had a home nurse visit and will get physical therapy at home next week. We are all trying to put together a Christmas schedule. My sister says we can visit Momma from 10-12 on Christmas Day. She will go to her son’s after that. Kris has adjusted her brunch meal around that time. We might just get to visit Jamie’s family briefly, maybe have a mimosa toast. Kim’s husband is preparing dinner - smoked coffee pork tenderloin in his new snazzy smoker. Yum! We went shopping. I found many of the gift cards I need, a few small items for my sister and BIL and general groceries. We were just making lunch when Lauren and our SIL Chris dropped by. She had asked me to get a train set for River and I did. But now that one is all he wants from Santa. We swapped gifts; mine can be attached to the first one I got. They are all Thomas trains. Chris picked up LED fixtures for our garage. Hubby is getting rid of the old fluorescent lights. He helped our BIL change his in the WV basement so he is ready to tackle ours. They stayed and chatted for hours. It was nice. Lauren dropped off an assortment of Thrift store finds for me: an almost new Columbia rain jacket, a new wallet, hanging shoe holder and thermal lunch box, all from Thirty-One. We understand they are going out of business so she grabs every item she sees. The shoe rack is wonderful, it holds all my summer shoes. She shared new shirt size gift boxes and several rolls of Christmas wrap that she was given for free. She knows how much I use each year. A new trend in our area is the “free items” FB page from several parts of the county. She trades excess baby supplies and gets quite a collection of items. I love the “neighbor helping neighbor” idea. We were going to put up the tree but we have “run out of steam.” There is always tomorrow…. Dinner just needs to be heated. We will take a quick nap first. I hope you had a fun and productive weekend like us. Stay safe. Thanks for your visit. “Basketball is a game of ups and downs, mistakes, and learning from them.
