Mine Works
We walked down to the village, and had a look around, checking out the shops, cafes and restaurants, before buying a couple of pasties. We headed south on the coastal path. Prussia Cove was our destination.
It was a lovely walk, but it was hard work with lots of ups and downs. I coped well with the path as I didn’t feel too exposed on the cliffs. The views were constantly changing, with the remains of old mine worms along the way to add interest. We also saw a few Cornish choughs flying around the old mine buildings.
We last walked to Prussia Cove, from the opposite direction over twenty years ago, and I had little memory of it. However I was glad when we got there, so we could have a seat, and our lunch. TT was keen to walk further, but I refused, as we had to retrace our steps home. He decided it was probably too late, and we were best to just turn around. The views back were equally impressive. The walking didn’t feel so hard, but so was very slow!
It was quite overcast for most of the day, but the sun broke through for s bit in our homeward journey. The village was heaving when we got back. We thought about s drink, but just kept going, picking up s few provisions, before a slow walk up the hill home.
I was glad to get my walking shoes off. I put on my sandals and walked along the lane to explore while TT made some pasta. With over 50,000 steps I was glad to put my feet up.
These are the ruins of mine works on the south Cornwall coast. The extras are from our walk.
