Frozen Valley
It was so cold last night that we felt it was time to visit the Frozen Valley. This is the lower part of Borrowdale and stretches get no sunlight at all through the darkest months. The river was partly frozen and the ground was very crunchy underfoot. A real wintery scene.
It’s Katie and Sophie’s birthdays today, apparently there’s a high statistical chance of people sharing a birthday and this proves it! In fact nearly all the family have birthdays in January which makes it a challenging month for sending parcels. They both received theirs, and I gave Katie my tapestry of a,standing stone in the Ring of Brodgar. She seems pleased with it!
I’m still busily working on Wendy’s present, the Clothkits jacket. That needs to be dispatched very soon! However I spent some time this morning making a Cheshire Cheese. This one was fun, setting a large pan of milk, cream and yogurt with rennet, then draining it and pressing it in a mould. We will try it tomorrow…
