The Feast Day of Saint Anthony of Egypt. Born 251 near Memphis, Egypt. Died 356, Mount Kolzim, Egypt. He is known as the Father of All Monks.
Status : Abbot. Patron saint of Basketmakers, gravediggers, hermits, monks, pigs, sufferers from skin disease, epileptic, egotism, amputees. The monks prayed, fasted, lived in caves, bartered palm baskets and did manual work to pay for essentials such as food and clothing. Saint Anthony of Egypt lived to a great age.
Today, here in Rishton, Blackburn, it is very freezing cold, sunny and not raining.
I walked to the Best One shop for our Accrington Observer and Daily Mail.
It is peaceful, as both cats are sleeping.
The plants in the photo include Crassulas, Citrus plants grown from pips, Geraniums and the pink budded Cactus.
