Eagle Eye!
First of all, thank you so much for the kind and thoughtful words on my 15th anniversary blip yesterday, and for the many hearts and stars! All very reassuring and warming!
To round of our sojourn in Scotland, Dot chose Whighams Wine Bar for lunch, just off Charlotte Square in Edinburgh, and handily placed for the tram stop in Atholl Crescent for our trip to the airport.
My eye was taken by this large painting in Whighams, and thirty-five year old memories stirred. The young waiter confirmed that it used to hang in the iconic Henderson’s Wine Bar (formerly on Hanover Street with Thistle Street) in the lower dining. The owners of both wine bars were brothers, the Henderson one having passed away a while ago - he is the young man lying on the grass with a wee dog, beside a brown rug, in the left-corner foreground! The painting transferred to Whighams when Hendersons closed.
