Big girl baby girl

We spent lost of the day having a fabulous time with my parents in Filey today. It really was a lovely, relaxed time. And Katie did some very clever new big girl things. She rode the big girl swings for the most time she's ever done. She did her first fireman's pole. She pedalled a quite giant trike and monkey-holding trailer around the gardens for 15minutes, at speed. But she still decided she wanted her lunch in a highchair and a carry up the hill in a makeshift blanket sling when the rainstorm hit.

In amongst all this we also managed to pay a visit to the sea cadets summer fair. she had a couple of turns at hook a duck (duck catching as she called it), she watched about three minutes of Magic Mike (who she was unimpressed with), she played in the power boat, bought a teddy biscuit and admired various owls and birds of prey.

We walked down the cliff to the children's paddling pool. Katie had spotted it at the top of the hill and requested that be the first destination when we hit the foreshore. She laughed so much as she played in there, had a glorious time.

We had lunch outside a sea front cafe. The picnic bench was very wobbly which is why she chose not to sit at it, I think. Katie requested a jacket potato. Just a jacket potato. It arrived and she briefly insisted that Was Not what she had meant but then proceeded to eat it and some sausage.

Rain was threatening and time running out but we managed two sandcastles and a draw in the sand before we set off back up the hill, Katie being hip-carried in granny's picnic blanket.

We cycled to the station and said goodbye to granny-grandad before we headed to our friends john & Tracy's engagement party. Thankfully the rain had stopped so the trampoline (bounce-a-too in Katie's words) was in full action. Katie also paid a visit to their chicken and had fun playing chase with some of the other children. Unsurprisingly, she fell asleep in the car on the way to the station and then was a little less than keen on going upstairs for bed. Happy and calm, just very awake. But when she did, she fell asleep very soon with her arms tight round my neck
