Bessera elegans

aka 'Coral Drops'. Probably the only plant I grow in the garden that originates in Mexico. From a small corm come narrow, wiry leaves and wispy stems with a sizable umbel of these bright red flowers. Quite sure it will not be hardy here, cold wet winters will spell death so I will lift the corms after it flowers. It also needs warmth to start the corms into growth so is flowering very late this year after our cold spring.
