Cake related trauma

Well today was all set to be the 4th instalment in the Afternoon Tea Tour. Angela and I were going to Snugglemuffin in Glasgow. With a name like that it had to be good right?

I met Angela at 12.45 and our friend Nichol was up visiting from Sunderland. It was lovely to see her for a catch up too. We all went to Snugglemuffin, but Nichol had to leave early to head back down the road so wasn't going to have the afternoon tea.

We were seated and 40 minutes later, still hadn't been offered any drinks, despite Angela going and asking. They were so busy. Nichol had to leave, so I complained and asked for a refund - we'd paid in advance. They promised to refund Angela's card and gave us a voucher for a free afternoon tea another time.

After saying goodbye to Nichol, we then tried 2 other establishments, but couldn't get an afternoon tea anywhere. By this point we were ravenous and I was starting to overreact ;) Angela is pregnant and you can't let a pregnant lady get hungry after all!

Anyway you'll be pleased to know I'm now suitably full of cake and happy again. We finally went to the famous Willow Tea Rooms, designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh. You know you're going to get traditional quality when you go there! It did not disappoint - scoring a 31/40. This ranks them 2nd in the league table so far (you can see the other instalments here)
