Nannan

4years 67days

I got an email last night inviting Katie and I to go round to see my best friends nan (Nannan, to everybody bar her children). They've always made me feel part of the family, they do with 'most all guests, but I have grown up with lauren and her family have loved sharing in both her children and mine. So I wasn't that surprised to hear they wanted to see Katie and give her a Christmas present. We had popped down on Christmas Eve but missed her by minutes.

Nannan is the most vicarious, theatrical, wonderfully kind, loopy lady. She tells the children a whole host of fairy tales. With Nannan as your Nan, honorary or otherwise, it's magic potions, tea parties and fabulous imagination. She adores Christmas, mainly for the magic with the children. This was her first year with in 30years with none around. So seeing Katie today seemed to cheer her up. Katie loved it too. Santa had left a little bag with a beautiful book (and chocolates for mummy!) and a little letter. She had a play with Lucy their crazy dog. And we gave huge cuddles from max, Eden and aunty lauren. A special visit.

After nannans, we all squished into the hire car (granny, grandad, uncle Simon, mummy, Katie and a select few small friends) to head to my sisters for lunch. Katie was extremely excited. But couldn't help but fall asleep on the drive. Waking her up was no difficulty in the slightest once she saw her cousins face peeping out at her! She was very bouncy, ate a gigantic lunch and charged round a bit more. Another special visit!

My brother in law offered to take us home, so we went shortly after lunch. Katie went to nursery for 3hours as mummy had to do some work and charge round like a bit of an idiot getting ready for a weekend away this weekend.

Despite a busy day, the sleep had done its normal and filled Katie with energy by a disproportionate amount- 30 minutes sleep and it was 9pm before she began to flag!
