Waiting

We were at Welwyn by 08.20 this morning. W was booked in and had magic cream applied, which apparently hurt, until it was bandaged out of sight and then it was fine. He played nicely with the hospital Stickle bricks and then played some Cbeebies on the iPad. Everytime he was spoken to he had his 'I am not amused' look on his face, but was still polite.

The anaesthetist was great, W played on her iPad while the venflon was inserted, he was completely unaware and then he was asked to blow up the balloon (paediatric bag) while they gave him propofol. And that was that, the smoothest induction I have witnessed (and I have witnessed a few) and a 100 times better than September 2011 for his T's and A's!

Twenty mins later he was in recovery, but refused to try to wake up for a fair while after. As soon as he had his eyes open they brought him to me and then we sat and watched CBeebies programmes until we were told we could go home.

Meanwhile Carys was slightly sick on getting home from dropping us off at the hospital. A combination of tiredness, no breakfast, travel sickness and sympathy. Jim (rightly) took the cautious approach and decided not to go to see The Nutcracker. Luckily, like most things, we hadn't told C so she was unaware of what she was missing. We (Jim and I) tend not to tell the kids things until the day, then they are only ever surprised and never disappointed when something doesn't happen.

Back home both children did some hama beads and then we watched The Princess and Frog, Shrek the Halls and Room on the Broom. Now I am just hoping they both sleep through the New Year Fireworks.
