The Snowboard Cross

Still another entry for the AOG...Debbi's Alternative Olympic Games.

The competitors are lining up for the snowboard cross...a strange event where all the snowboarders start together, and race down the hill...with much jostling and "positioning." 6 guys or gals...all fighting for the "hole shot", the spot in front where you control the skiing line, and everybody else tries to catch you.

In the AOG version...forget the 6 , and multiply it by ten. 60 pelicans (maybe 40, but 60 makes a better story)...seeing the charter boat come in...all lining up for the "hole shot"...the closest spot next to the cleaning table. And...you think the skiers jostle...add to that the sword-like beak of the birds...and the battle is on.

It's on...except for one solitary pelican. The others call him Howie...after Howie Mandel. He doesn't like to mix it up. He doesn't like to shake hands...preferring to wing-bump. Instead of fighting for fish scraps...he would rather be taking bath after bath. So...even though he's hungry...he is very well groomed.
