Wanton destruction

Early start again to make a 9.30 tee time in the hills – a fun, 3-club competition , only 9 holes and we were delighted when someone offered us a cart (knee in bad shape). The club is beautiful and very friendly, but struggling to survive spiraling costs and members leaving as the monthly fees go up. The recently-elected President has just resigned, so there was a meeting to elect his replacement. The President has to be Brazilian and to have been a member for 10 years, so only a handful of people are eligible. Luckily, someone has taken it on and we all wish him luck in trying to solve the problems.

When I took the dogs out in the evening I was disgusted to find that two or three of the pink banana plants had been hacked down, for absolutely no apparent reason – fruit, leaves and flower lying on the ground. So sad – and so much less tasty food for the birds.
