"Once A Show Boat" ...

...Yes, the old Show Boat "P.S. AVOCA"...and with quite a history to her as well..but apparently she's in need of repairs if she's to avoid a watery demise - her pumps are going now to pump out the water created apparently from the leaky hull..

...Built in 1877 this old boat has certainly been around and was said to be - in 1922, one of the largest boats on the river - she even travelled on the Port River in Adelaide, South Australia..

...She's moored just up from the old P.S. COONAWARRA I showed you just a few blips ago and both are sitting almost side by side along the riverbank in the shadows of the old river gums there, all quiet now but in her heyday she was once a show boat ...

...Wouldn't it have been grand to go on a little trip on an old boat like this, 23 years older than the old P.S. MELBOURNE which I sometimes show you - chugging along the river with the throbbing of the paddles on the water and with puffs of steam coming from her funnel..

... And we saw her yesterday too, down in the lock - with lots of steam..amongst a wedding..and thankyou to everyone who sent generous and lovely comments as usual..
