Eventful

Katie was up a bit in the night, coughing. This morning it was quite nasty. Then it was very nasty. Then she was struggling to catch her breath, was a bit wheezy, and couldn't talk without descending into splutters. I decided to take her to the Out of Hours at Minor Injury, so called 111. They however decided to send the ambulance. By the time it arrived, she was much calmer, although she had a panic about the ambulance arriving and the men coming in. They walked through the door and the elder one of the two immediately said "that's croup". I spent the entire time apologising as I could see it was unnecessary, but reassuring I guess at least. Her only experience of doctors is her injections and scarlet fever. The paramedics spent a good half hour with her, observing her, chatting to her and did convince her to let them put her on the monitor for a while. I had to go first, then Monkey had it on her tail, then she did it. She was laughing and joking with them by the time they got up to leave. They kindly said she could have a little look at the ambulance and "drive" it if she wanted. They put the lights on for her and were all round good eggs.

We had planned a day at the beach but instead had an at home day. Granny and Grandad came round at midday and Granny & I made a roast dinner together. Katie played with Grandad in the garden while we cooked. She wanted to go to the park afterwards so we did that. Hide and seek, slides, running round, lots of fun. She then declared that they could go home, it was time for her to play with her friend. We convinced her to let them stay for coffee and cake but they are now being evicted ready for playing out again. A different child to the one who woke up!!

Happy Mother's Day to all you lovely blipmummies, and thoughts to those for who today is very difficult. xx
