In Gloucester Cathedral

This monument is to Elizabeth Williams who died in childbirth in 1622. She was the daughter of Bishop Miles Smith who was responsible for the translation of the later books of the Old Testament for the King James Version of the Bible.

What a refreshing change it was to visit a cathedral and not feel as though you've been mugged for all your cash. I know cathedrals and churches have high running costs and no state funding, and I'm always happy to make a donation every time I visit a place of worship, but I really object to the "pay up or stay out" impression that so many other cathedrals give.
