Easter Saturday
Last night we had a most enjoyable evening with the roast dinner which went down well with all, followed by chat. After a good night's sleep I woke at 9.45am, which was a perfect lie in. L and his family had already gone out for the day to the farm shop and then to Airkix and shopping so I had the house to myself.
After a lazy morning pottering and playing with Lottie Dog, I headed out to Stony to meet with B, Ch and her mum in Costa. It was lovely to see Ch as she's only home from Kenya for 10 days. It sounds as though things are going well for them and their project out there. They've now got a car at least, which I'm pleased about. Instead of coming home too, N decided to go on a road trip with friends. I don't think I blame him! I still intend to get out there for a visit sometime. Ch's lost 3 stone and is a lovely brown. I inspected the new fish tattoo. It's very individual and pretty actually but I'm still unsure about it being behind her ear. It's a bit public.
I then had a nice slice of banana and date loaf in the garden and took Lottie out for a decent walk in the warm Spring sunshine down to the river. She didn't seem to mind that her collar/lead was a bit of washing line!
After a refreshing shower and lie down (as I'm still feeling tired with this cold), I found that L and his family had returned. They had invited me out to dinner so we went to Brasserie Blanc in MK and sat in the new area which used to be the shop. (See blip). I had some tasty gravadlax as a starter, followed by haddock with beurre blanc sauce for my main. I've eaten there a few times and this was the best food and the best service. I was amazed to see J, aged 11, demolish a 10oz steak, mash and a decent bowl of carrots. We were all too full for pudding. As L had drunk too much, I drove us home in the new BMW. Very posh and a smooth drive.
As it was another clear night, we had an impromptu lesson in star gazing with a special wheel star chart in the back garden and made a fuss of Lottie and I've now retired to bed. Good day. Felt like a holiday.
