Dunvegan castle
This is the seat of Macleod of Macleod, chief of the clan Macleod. So good they named him thrice.
The current one is the 30th and called Hugh I believe.
They were one of the first to start the clearances in 1738 as an 'experiment' by sending some of their clansmen to the Carolinas so they could use the land for sheep. Nice man.
Anyway the castle is one of the 'must see' attractions on Skye. Or so it says in the blurb. I've resisted it on several visits and don't feel any sense of disappointment.
