What a surprise!
It's been a lovely day, only partially spoiled during the morning by the heavy downpour for a couple of hours. However, as the forecast had threatened storms and rain all day I was pleasantly surprised when 12 noon came and it cleared and we were treated to sparkling sunshine and blue skies for the rest of the day.
I did a bit of last minute food shopping first thing, then picked W and J (my brother's in laws) up from the station (getting soaked in the process when trying to juggle bags and brolleys and a severe lack of boot space as well as uneven paving slabs that drenched my feet with cold water.) Still, we got home eventually and caught up on the news from the family in Perth (Australia) and heard all about their recent wanderings around Europe in Rome, Venice, Pompeii, Lucerne, Bruges... they are on their way to a week in Scotland now. Lucky things...
PPP+H arrived for lunch at 2pm and we enjoyed some time in the garden (so glad I mowed and tidied it yesterday ignoring the dire forecast!) and then all sat down to salmon and roasted veggies. We got back out on the benches in the garden amid very loud birdsong and caught up on all the family news, enjoying the warm temperatures and sunshine. I took the opportunity to take some candid shots with the longer lens on manual.
PPP+H left at about 4.30pm and then B arrived at 6pm for drinks and a light cheese and ham supper. Again we sat out until it got a bit too chilly at about 8pm, when we decamped into the sitting room for more chats and chill out. (My blip is of B and W checking out some online photos).
It's been a super day, doing very little but somehow I feel exhausted at the end of it. I blame the sunshine and fresh air. The great thing is that it appears that tomorrow will be nice too, just what is needed for the village Duck Race to go off with a bang and raise tons of cash for the church funds....
