Diary of an Edinburgher

Walkies, with cake.

After many tries yesterday, lured with delicious kibble, he has finally mastered the dog door. Almost. He slaps it with his paw, so that it swings back and whacks him on the nose, which puts him off the whole idea. He needs to learn just to use his nose to push.

Had a big long walk today, with a cuppa and cake (for me) at the Pavilion Cafe - sitting out in the sun. Had to move my table when I noticed Archie blissfully rubbing his face in a nearby patch of grass - I couldn’t see what had caught his attention, but it must have smelt nice. Not.

He’s also taken to doing poos while on his walk now. Just as well I had two poo bags with me, after being caught out yesterday and having to use my paper hankie. Met lots of dogs, including having a good run around with Bailey the pug/shih tzu cross we met the other day. A whippet knocked him flying. And this gorgeous Alaskan Malamute let Archie have a sniff. I am much bigger than Archie, but I was rather in awe of that inscrutable gaze, so no wonder the wee fella's cowering. I cloned out the ropes and leads. Just because I could.

Archie was great on his long lead rope. I can just walk on and rarely have to stop and tug - he just keeps up. Rather, he wends his way from one side to the other in front of me, causing me to get caught up in the rope. But he never goes far away. Though he takes not a blind bit of notice of my calls if he's exploring a nice smelly tree or lamppost.

Lost my lens cap. :-(
