Grey Dagger moth
I decided to blip this Grey Dagger moth Acronicta psi I caught recently in my moth trap, as I blipped the larva last summer (see August 25th 2013). It always seems strange to me that such an interesting and colourful larva can turn into a relatavly drab moth!
The moth gets it's name from the dagger-like markings on the forewings as does the Dark dagger Acronicta tridens from which it is impossible to separate without looking at the moth genitalia, so this may well be a Dark dagger!
Both moths do however have very different larvae, but as I caught this one as a moth I have no idea!
Not a very nice day weather wise, and it is pouring down now, hopefully it will clear up for tomorrow.
