Opening Day
It closed when the school holidays began.
It was due to open on Friday - then Saturday - then yesterday.
Now there are new benches, new waste bins and loads of great stuff for kids of all ages.
The monsters wanted to go and see if it was open this morning.
So off we trotted.
We arrived and there were loads of hi-viz jackets hanging about and checking bits of paper, bolts, wood chippings and the likes.
The foreman who has kept us abreast of things told us we were a bit early but the park would be open at some point today.
While we sat and watched the checklist being checked a friend arrived with her two charges so we sat and had a chat while the kids hung on the fencing and drooled.
After a short while the foreman came over, opened the fence and invited us in the be the first of the public to use it.
While the kids tried the smaller stuff one of the 'suits' we had spoken to before and had been 'testing' the fancy roundabout took to the giant climbing rope. I got distracted for a couple of minutes and hadn't realised he was going to come down the big tube slide until he pushed himself off.
So I missed getting a decent shot ..... but I did get him as he shot out of the bottom like a cork out of a bottle, flew off the end and bounced once before coming to rest with his feet over the perimeter edge.
The woman 'suit' then mentioned a rethink of the position of the perimeter might be needed but he said it was just his weight and that there would be no problem.
Well - he should know ............ it turns out he is the designer - the big kid.
I suspect we will be dragged down to the park every dry day now.
