Geofizzing

I walked along the shore of Evie today. I sat and watched some seals for a while- there were a dozen common seals hauled out and a few grey seals in the water. Nothing looks more relaxed and content than a seal hauled out and basking in the sun. Lots of small waders about- lots of ringed plover, turnstones, curlew, lapwing, golden plover and a couple of sanderlings and dunlin. A group of eight ravens were flying around and some skuas- two each of arctic and great. The arctic skuas were chasing sandwich terns, looking for a sandwich I suppose. On the bus back to Kirkwall we stopped at Tingwall and some archaeologists were 'geo-physing' (?) the ground near the Norse meeting place (the hill) from which the place takes its name.
