Pont du Gard

We visited the amazing Pont du Gard today - the biggest Roman aqueduct ever built - 48m high with spans of over 20m. It carried water from Uzes to Nimes at the height of the Roman Empire.

We had lunch overlooking it then drove on to Uzes: the home of the Duke of Uzes who has not only a castle, but his own cathedral. It's a beautifully preserved and proportioned medieval walled town with cafés, art and architecture a plenty.
