Champagne Harvest

Before leaving Reims we went to stock up on champagne to take home with us, and then we drove along the Champagne Route to see the vineyards. We drove up to the Mumm windmill which you can see on the top of the hill, but on our way I asked Alan to stop the car so I could take some photos of the vineyards. I noticed some people so went to see what they were doing, and I was really pleased to see that they were actually harvesting the vines. Even more amazing was that they were doing it all by hand - it makes you realise why champagne is so expensive when you look at the work that goes into it.

We then had a picnic enjoying the view, before getting back into the car for a 4 hour drive to the Alsace. The boys travelled well again, although they still don't like the car, but we're now settled into our little apartment and they're enjoying lots of cuddles on the sofa. We're having a relaxing night in, and shall go investigating tomorrow.
