Any mycologists out there?

One if my best mates at Uni was a fungus geek. Nice guy, but totally and inexplicably fascinated by anything fungal.
I suppose he thought my interest in ornithology equally "geeky'!! He would have identified this instantly and possibly taken it ba k to the Lab. with him.
Anyway, the point is that here is a large and rather ugly fungus that is growing under my neighbour's fence.
Is it a boletus?
Is it something new to science?
I haven't a clue, but am intrigued.
