Isopogon

This remarkable plant, the Ispogon made an amazing recovery after the bush fires blasted through Wombat Hollow 12 years ago. I was told by very well informed people that I would be lucky to see any recovery of this particular species and if I did it would be a very, very slow process.

Commonly known as the "Drumstick" plant, I have an absolute cracker growing right outside the lounge room and it's in full flower at the moment. I was intrigued at how well the bush did bounce back after the fires. One of the fellows from the Wild Plant Rescue Group told me quite seriously that I would often think that I had fairies at the bottom of my garden. He was right actually as so many wonderful plant events happened in the aftermath.
