Frankincense to offer have I

Oman is delightful. Several passengers have deliberately chosen this trip so they can return.

It is spotlessly clean, safe and so friendly and welcoming.

His Majesty Sultan Qaboos, in his 40 year reign, has achieved marvels. The infrastructure. The friendly relations even with some troublesome neighbouring states. Free education. No taxes. Free medical care.

Women and girls can drive, work - and if they are Omani, they will receive the plot of land in their own right when they come of age.

Mohammed was our guide as we visited the Palace (photo stop only as we aren't VIPs), and then went on to the magnificent Museum of the Frankincense Land at the archaeological site. We could have done with another hour there!

Salalah is the Frankincense capital. The trees will not grow further north. My blip is of our guide showing a tree and how the "tears" which will become the incense are harvested.

On to the Frankincense Souk (and the 50km beach).

Guess what gifts I will be taking home :-)
