Tigh Mhor across Loch Achray

Today's the day .................... to inspect

Because we've been coming here at this time of the year for so long, we've come to think that it all actually belongs to us.

So the first thing we always have to do is have a good nosey around and check out any changes that have happened since we were here last. And this time, there have been quite a few.

A lot of the coniferous trees on the lower slopes above Loch Achray to the west of Tigh Mhor have been cleared away by the Forestry Commission. To do this, they have made quite a substantial path which presumably they will leave to become the start of the route up Ben A'an.

Now, there will be lots of people, no doubt, who won't like this interference with the status quo - but we think, after due consideration, that it's a good thing. After all, the coniferous trees were planted back in the 50s by the Forestry Commission and they do not support a very rich or varied flora and fauna.

It's just as well that we approve - because annoyingly they didn't actually ask our permission before they went ahead anyway ........................
