Talent and Pride

Some days you are reminded that working with young people is a joy and that we are privileged to contribute to their lives and work with them.

This morning saw a performance of about 40 minutes - a showcase if you like - of some of the talented individuals that we have in school. Originally the assembly was planned as a welcome to our Malaysian visitors, but that Icelandic volcano has put paid to them coming over for a while now. However, the youngsters had put in so much work, along with a team of staff who have thrown themselves into it too, so it was decided that the assembly would go ahead for our Year 7 group as audience.

What followed was some excellent dance, drama and musical performances that served to remind us that education is not just about targets and what happens in the classroom. We have some really talented students, some who surprised me with what they could do - including street dance with flips and all sorts of stuff that would put my back out permanently if I tried it.

So, to our students - You did us proud. And to the staff who co-ordinated it all - fab job. I know it wasn't "simples" to put together...but it was worth it.
