Fell in the bog

After the exam we promised the class we would take any who were interested on one last adventure. We would take everyone on a trip to mud lake bog. Save for our group who did their research project on pitcher plants out here none of the other students have experienced the oh so wonderfully squishy sensation of the bog. As the group gathered around Dave traipsing through the forest ahead of us Katie and I tried to ID wildflowers and marsh plants. First squishy step into the Shagnum waters of the bog though the students were calling me over. "Mr. Jesse, come, come!! Quick!"

Walking on the bog by the lake the distinction between dry land and water becomes especially blurred, like walking on a squishy water bed undulating to your footsteps. In a giggling circle we gathered round Sara who had fallen up to her chest through the spongy moss blanket of the bog. It was just too funny especially for Sara, the joker in our group. After that one by one out students had to take a jump into the bog hole. When Bies jumped in his expression was so comical I had to snap a picture.

Bog bath afternoon. Pure joy.
