Oh Lord, I go for penguins...............

Round 5 of the Quiz League and another potential banana skin.

The visiting team (The Sundial, tonight) get choice of questions 1st or 2nd in the first half, and then they switch over at half time. Convention is usually to pick 1st but tonight's visitors have adopted the tactic of picking the 2nd set based on a belief that they are often slightly easier. It's served them well for the latter half of last season and the start of this one, and tonight they went for the same tactic.

I thought they'd got it right when the first questions for us was "The Royal family of which Asian country reside in the Chitrilada Palace?" but we worked it out to Thailand. Their corresponding question was "Which African Royal family lived in the Abdene Palace between 1872 and 1952?", they got it wrong but we picked up the bonus point for Egypt.

Round 2 Individual questions I got left with Sherlock Holmes' older brother, and we won 9-4.
Over all score 16-10

Round three we lost 4-5
Over all 20-15
Round 4 we lost 4-8 due to the Sundial getting 4 very easy questions on Homes of Tv characters.

Round 5 we won 8-6 (Good job I know my Australian marsupials)

Round 6 we won 9-6

Round 7 we lost 5-6 (Good job I know my bodily functions)

The blip is one of the promotions on in the pub at the moment, because I couldn't think of anything else to capture.


Oh.... the title? Well I think tonight's hardest question was "Which species of Penguin get their name from the area of the south coast of the South Island of New Zealand where the major colony lives?"



Would you have got Fjordland Penguins? No? Neither did either team tonight.

So 5 and 0, still undefeated and a couple of the other results went our way so we have a 3 point lead!!!!
