I am now retired after nearly 40 years working in IT Service provision in the university sector. I live in a village just outside Canterbury, Kent, England.
I have always been involved in photography since having the keys to the school darkroom and selling cameras on a Saturday in Hambletons of Romford (Does anyone remember Hambletons?). My first 35mm camera was a Voigtländer Vito C, followed by a Pentax K1000. In the late 1980s I traded the Pentax for a Minolta SLR. My first venture into digital photography was with a Minolta Dynax, but after two years it developed a fault and fortunately I received a full refund as there was a known manufacturing fault. I now have a Nikon D80 with an 18-135mm, a 70-300mm and a 60mm macro. I often use a Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZX1 which can slip into a bag or a pocket very easily. I've bought a Macbook Pro and I'm learning to use Aperture.
I'm a committed Christian and involved in various things, including Canterbury Food Bank.
My interests include travel and railways and these may be reflected in my blips. I have been using flickr for many years.
