Diary of an Edinburgher

A productive day

[A collective thank you for any stars awarded yesterday - much appreciated.]

We met up with the new prospective dog sitter at a park in the west end of Edinburgh. It was all fenced in, so great for dog walking/training.

The PDS (Prospective Dog Sitter) brought her own dog, a springer spaniel and another dog that she was looking after. The three dogs had a play in the park while we walked round and talked turkey. It's all arranged for a night soon, and then if all goes to plan, she will do the week while we're off jaunting with our personal butler, whom I may have mentioned before...

We also had a walk in Dalry Cemetery. What a state it's in! Most of the tombstones have fallen down, or were pushed over. I suppose it costs money to upkeep graveyards, but it does look so sad...

We popped into what has to be the best pet shop in town! I've never seen so many different treats - ones I've never seen before, including bulls' pizzles (don't ask...)

But the owner was very helpful and gave us lots of advice about what to do about the brown beard. She could have kept us all day with advice on what to do when he goes hysterical at the vet's, and what to do when he barks at other dogs when on the lead. Forgot to ask her advice about car sickness. Next time.

Anyway, the brown beard is the food, which has all sorts of additives in it, even if the vet sells it... And when we look back, it started when we changed his food after the groomer's. We now have the Best Dog Food in the World. No, second best - The Best is from Canada and cost £££££s. This is a British version, costing only £££s.

But Plan B - we'll probably revert to the old stuff, as we have a ton of it, and he had a white beard then...

We bought a really good Kong toy for hiding his food in, and it's big enough not to roll under the kitchen cabinets. We also got him a new bed - one with sides. What a spoilt boy!

We didn't get any pizzles.

PS Joy of joys! The thumbnail feature is back. And it's even better, because I couldn't use it on the iPad before. Wonder if we can go back and fix the several weeks of no thumbnails - I find them quite irritating ...
