Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

Switched on!

The electrician came to put in more lights in the kitchen and to add a double socket in the hall. The way to stop Archie doing his fierce guard dog act is to get the intruder visitor to give him a treat. Immediate pals! We now have a very well lit kitchen and the magic plugs that will stop the annoying 'buffering’ on the TV have been fitted. Archie had a wee look in the electrician's bag when he'd popped out to his van.

Another dreich day, but not dreich in London, thankfully, so tennis was on (in between shower breaks) to brighten my day.

During a tennis rain break, I decided to start training Archie to close the lounge door. I have studied YouTube videos, and it looked pretty straightforward.

But Archie hadn't seen the videos, so it was not straightforward. He hadn't a clue, and was so obsessed by the pieces of chicken that he could do nothing else. I gave up.

The hedge is growing even as I look at it. Immediate action is required on the first dry day - the weekend, the weather apps predict. But they're often wrong...

Mention of Riley yesterday reminded me of 'Reilly, Ace of Spies', a TV series in the 80s. The first few notes of the theme music sent me into raptures, and I've always remembered it. And now I even know the composer (thanks Google) - Shostakovich. Have a listen.
