....watch the fountain....
Up early to go fishing at a new venue with Roy, Colin and Gordon.
Arrived about 8.30 and first impressions were not good, visually the place looked a bit of a dump....but we selected our pegs anyway. I decided to fish the tip rod as I was not near the island or any features in the water. First cast..... first bite....a small roach...and that was it...I was off and running......caught steadily until about 1.00 when the Sun was at it's hottest.
We took a break for a bacon butty and a coffee and got back to fishing....but it was very slow....way too hot....the fish had stopped feeding....and then this little beauty kicked in. It's an aerator...designed to put extra oxygen into the water. After it had been running about 10 minutes.......the bites started again....and it was "a bite, a chuck". Every cast a fish......until sheer exhaustion forced us to stop about 4.00.
I lost count of exactly how many fish I caught but it was at least 23 Bream of between 8oz and 1lb each...15 Blue Orfe...6 Golden Rudd...4 Carp...4 Crucian Carp...4 Roach...1 Chub...1 Ide...2 Tench and 1 Golden Tench. I also got snapped off by another big Carp....6lb line so the fish was probably a double (more than 10lb)....and the other three did just as well.....each one of us must have had about 50lb of fish each.
It was the best day's fishing I've ever had...home now...back aches....shoulders hurt...biceps sore...sun tan all over arms and face.......brilliant.
Almost makes up for the fact that we haven't won any medals yet today!
