Diary of an Edinburgher

Silver Screen

A bit of a dreich day today - ideal for the movies in the afternoon. Jenna came to pick Archie up as Annemique had to go into uni in the morning for some 'lab work'. Those girls are so good the way they organise things so that Archie doesn't miss out.

As soon as he'd gone, we wandered down to the Cameo for lunch in the bar before seeing Trainspotting2. It's Silver Screen on a Tuesday, so after lunch we tottered into the cinema clutching our free teas and biscuits. I love going in the afternoons - the huge cinema is usually empty but for a smattering of folk. I can sit well away from anyone else who might rustle, slurp, crunch, talk, cough, kick my seat, or play with their phone etc.

We quite enjoyed T2. Not as many godawful horrible drug scenes, though there were plenty of scenes where I had to examine my empty tea cup closely. There were even a few laugh out loud scenes. Good story, good ending and great acting. Oh, I do love Spud!

Back home and Annemique brought Archie back, washed and dried, and stayed for a wine and some very hot wasabi peas. They had a big walk up Blackford Hill and didn't get wet. Then they went back to her flat for a play and a snooze.

We've been browsing a few dog friendly cottages, and have booked one for a few days in February. It looks good - no stairs, log fire, dog free (not dog-free, but you don't pay for the dog), near the sea, and in a wee town which is famous for its fish'n'chips. Can't wait.

PS I did not take this photo, obvs...
