CLOSED
What a grand day we had! Apart from the half hour I spent on the bike at the gym, that is.
Kerri and Luke came to pick up Archie. They haven't been for a while, being so busy at weekends, but they got a fairly hysterical welcome. Archie was pleased to see them too.
While he was away, we both went to the gym, though JR's session was much more productive than mine, as usual.
In the afternoon, seeing it was such a lovely day, we decided we to drive to our favourite riverside pub, give Archie a good run and have a beer and tasty nibbles while sitting out in the sun. Perfect. Except that the pub was CLOSED. SHUT. NO LONGER OPEN. Though I did chat to some chaps, who said it was under new management and will re-open.
We had a walk along the river, where Archie nearly got attacked by Mr Swan (extra) and back along to the other pub/hotel we'd seen many times. It was CLOSED. SHUT. NO LONGER OPEN too. The cafe we'd read about in town was just closing. By this time I was getting desperate for sustenance - ice cream, a scone, or a beer. Definitely a sit down, preferably in the shade.
But no, most of Haddington was closed. So we headed for the coast and the wee ice cream van at Longniddry Bents no 3. Tempted by their fish'n'chips, we decided to go to Port Seton instead, where we've had brilliant fish suppers by the harbour. Well, it was good, but not the most brilliant we've ever had. Maybe we shouldn't have had the chips at the caravan first.
Archie and JR walked round the coast to the park, and I drove round and picked them up a mile or so along.
What a grand day out. And best of all - Archie was in the back seat, on his own, without loads of newspapers to protect the seat, and he wasn't sick!! Yay!
