Diary of an Edinburgher

Haircut, Archie? No thanks...

Felt a bit lost today with no sport on TV. Quite upset, really, that NZ 'lost' the World Cup because England had 'more boudaries' - NZ had taken 'more wickets!' Amazing that they got exactly the same runs (how often does that happen?) - so it should have been a draw.

A hot day, but I managed to cut the grass before my breakfast. A new walker came to visit Archie today - Lilly. She's an American law student, though her grandfather is a Maori! She's a real doggy person, and she went a big walk to the Hermitage with Archie and JR. She was impressed with his tricks, of course. So hopefully she'll be able to take him out during the week, as she's on holiday now, but staying in the city for the summer hols. She and her friends have a nice flat that they want to keep hold of, so are paying rent over the summer.

When they'd gone, I relaxed and sat in the sun in the front garden reading my book, which I’ve got on my phone - very handy to read any time, even in the sun.

When the others came back, we went to the cafe to have a coffee (I don’t drink coffee at home now). JR had a big delicious looking scone, and I had a wee bit of it... it's nice as it's a real neighbourhood cafe - we met three people we knew. One of them was Michael, one of Archie’s walkers. We had told him to work at the cafe, as he's having renovations, but needs to ‘work from home'. Archie was excited to see him.

Later, we popped into our neighbour's house (we have a key) to leave some flowers and a birthday card, as it was a Big One today, and she'd been in London for the weekend visiting her son. She came over later to sit in our sunny back garden and have some bubbly.

Archie's haircut was postponed for a day... here I’m saying to him 'Would you like a haircut?' 'Er, no thanks...' The ball has seen better days...
