It’s Come Around Quickly
Last year on Boxing Day I went to Penryn Rugby Club to watch the Falmouth 2nd XV, known as the ‘One & All’, play. On that day four father and son combinations played and the talk in the bar afterwards of going for double that number in this years fixture and I was “yeah, yeah, I’ll play”.
I didn’t realise how much my son has been looking forward to playing a competitive match with his Dad, he had spoken often of today throughout the year with friends and family.
And so it was at 10:00 this morning at age sixty-six and eight months and with a little flutter of nerves I pulled on my rugby kit ready for an 11:00 kick off at Falmouth Rugby Club.
What a great experience, I hope I didn’t let my son or myself down nor the friends who had come to watch and support us.
The four of us made a day of it at the rugby club, few too many beers amongst great friends at a great club.
Next Boxing Day I’ll be four months short of sixty-eight, will I do it again, probably.
