Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

SNOW! Not much, but enough to get excited about. JR rushed to get the special snow shovel out and clear the path (and the pavement. And the neighbour’s path). She rushed to get it done, because last time we had a snow, I used the spade... and yes, the beautiful (expensive) tiles were covered in tiny scratches. Oops. The scratches wore off after a wee while, thankfully.

Robert came at 10am to take Archie out bearing a belated Christmas gift for him. And so we were ready and itching (not really) to get on with the next bit of painting. The hard bit. Up at the top of the ladder for JR, and I had a long handle and walked around doing the ceiling with the roller.

Luckily - despite Forthports’ doubts - only one coat was needed (I couldn’t bear to do it all again). We got the more expensive paint, but saved in the long run. Also, we were painting more white on white, which was great, because if a wee bit was missed, it’s not going to matter too much.

Feeling very accomplished tonight, having saved at least £600, which was the lower of two quotes we had.

More snow coming!
